Past Events
Business events ABIE Germany regularly organises and hosts events for its members. These include breakfast, daytime and evening events. Regular lunches are held in Frankfurt and Munich often at Australian Consulate, with a guest speaker who may be a visiting Australian, a prominent European or an international figure from the field of commerce, industry, politics, diplomacy and occasionally, sport or entertainment. In other European and Australian State capitals where ABIE is established, similar lunches are held on a regular basis.

In all countries, regular evening functions are held to provide for those who have difficulty attending daytime events. These evening events are more informal and provide an opportunity for members to focus on particular business areas of mutual interest or simply extend business contacts. Please find information on upcoming and past events below.

The Socceroos

vs.

Germany

Sunday, 13 June 2010

Kick-Off 8.30 p.m.

On Sunday, 13 June 2010 Australians and Germans all over the world will gather to view the seventh match of the World Cup.  Pim Verbeek's boys are scheduled to play Jogi (Bear) Löw's Buben in what will undoubtedly be an exciting and nail-biting game of superb skill, manoeuvring, strategy, concentration, determination, endurance and cunning...

It's a game no Australian or German should miss!

Bearing in mind the day and time of the match (and the fact that it should not be missed), ABIE Germany has organized two alternative events in different locations (Frankfurt and Bonn) with the aim of catering for different member needs.  All you need to decide is whether you would prefer a drink at the pub, or a sausage with the kids (and adults).

Event 1 - The Pub

ABIE, together with Austrade, are joining our friends at Ozkonnekt to view the match in Frankfurt.  The beer will be flowing, the corks will be popping, the crowd will be sitting, standing, jumping and cheering at:

Yours Australia Bar

Rahmhofstraße 2

60313 Frankfurt am Main

from 7.00 p.m.

RSVP 31 May 2010

Event 2 - The Barbie

ABIE's Chairman is also kindly offering his home near Bonn to view the match.  The sausages will be sizzling, the beer and wine will be flowing, the crowd will be sitting, standing, jumping and cheering, at:

Daniel Lawlor's Residence

Bernsteinstr. 5

53757  Sankt Augustin

from 5.00 p.m.

RSVP 31 May 2010

Numbers are limited so if you would like to attend, please contact Ms. Simone Piek, secretary to the Chairman, by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or by fax on 02452 931094.

Teilnahme: kostenfrei

ABIE AGM 2010 & TAX PLANNING SEMINAR PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 23 March 2010 11:36

The Board of ABIE Germany is pleased to invite you to the next ABIE event namely a tax planning seminar to be followed by the AGM to be held on Tuesday, 23 March 2010 at the ADINA hotel, Wilhelm-Leuschner-Strasse 6, 60329 Frankfurt a.M.

The AGM will cover matters relevant to the past year including the Chairman's Report, the Financial Report, the election of Board members and the future strategy.

If you have some ideas that you would like to discuss at the AGM, would like to participate more directly in ABIE, or would like to stand for election to the ABIE Board, please let us know in advance in writing.

The AGM is scheduled to commence between 8 - 8:30 pm, depending upon when the tax seminar concludes.

The purpose of the tax seminar event is to provide useful tax information to Australian expatriates residing here in Germany and also to Germans having assets in Australia. Many ABIE members have, or will have, assets in both countries.
Special rules apply to the taxation of property and other assets situated outside of Germany. Inheritance is another issue that would be of direct interest to ABIE members. The seminar will be given by the leading firm Erkens Gerow Schmitz Zeiss. The seminar held last year in Düsseldorf was highly rated by ABIE members and guests.

ABIE members and guests are invited to submit questions in advance. This will allow sufficient time for answers to be prepared.
The seminar will commence at 6 pm and have duration of approximately 60 - 75 minutes, followed by questions.
Complimentary drinks and finger food will be served.

If you would like to attend on the 23 March 2010, please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or send a fax using the attached sheet as soon as possible, so that we can make all arrangements.

Best regards,
Daniel Lawlor, on behalf of the ABIE Board
